Mini Reese's Bat Snack treats on a cookie sheet.

Reese's Bats

These Reese's Bats are the perfect no-bake Halloween treat that will be ready in under 10 minutes. These little bat desserts combine two of my favorite things—Oreo Cookies and Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 10 minutes
Servings: 12 treats

Equipment

  • ziplock bag

Ingredients

  • 6 Oreo cookies
  • 12 miniature Reese’s cups unwrapped
  • ¼ cup chocolate chips melted
  • 24 small candy eyes

Instructions

  • Take the Oreo cookies apart, and scrape out the cream filling. Carefully, cut the cookies in half using a serrated knife. Each cookie will give you four wings. Unwrap the peanut butter cups.
  • Heat chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second increments. Stir well after each time, until chips are melted completely. Pour slightly cooled melted chocolate into a baggie and seal. Snip a very small hole in the tip of the bag.
  • Apply a small amount of melted chocolate to the top of the peanut butter cup. Press the wings onto the chocolate and hold until they are firmly in place.
  • Add the candy eyes on top of the cookie wings. Simply place two dots of melted chocolate on the cookie, and then place the eyes on top.
  • Repeat these steps until all the bat cookies are complete. Let your Halloween bats sit in the fridge for five minutes while the chocolate sets.

Heather's Helpful Hints

  • Alternatives to Melted Chocolate: You can also use canned frosting to attach the bat wings to Reese’s cups. I've also had success with peanut butter. Both of these options are nice if you're working with younger children.
  • Cutting Oreo Cookies: Using a serrated knife to cut the Oreo cookies resulted in the least amount of broken cookies. It’s not the end of the world if you use a regular knife and then have some broken pieces!
  • Storage: These bat treats are best on the same day you make them or one day afterward. They can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days.
