Italian Christmas Cookies

These easy Italian Christmas cookies have only seven ingredients! This recipe uses refrigerated sugar cookie dough which saves you lots of time in the kitchen. These bite sized morsels are perfect for holiday baking!

Ingredients

  • 1 roll refrigerated sugar cookie dough 16.5 oz
  • 4 oz cream cheese softened
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ¾ teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 ¼ cups powdered sugar
  • 3 to 4 tablespoons water
  • 2 tablespoons holiday sprinkles

Instructions

  • Heat over to 350 degree Fahrenheit and place rack in the center of oven. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
  • Break apart cookie dough and crumble into a large bowl. Add cream cheese, flour, and ½ teaspoon vanilla and mix until combined. 
  • Shape dough into balls (mine were about 20 grams each) and place on lined cookie sheet 2 inches apart. 
  • Bake for 11-13 minutes or until edges are ever so slightly browned. Allow to cool on cookie sheet for 5 minutes and then remove to cooling rack to cool completely. 
  • In a small bowl stir together powdered sugar, water, and remaining vanilla. Dip each cookie into the glaze and add sprinkles. Allow glaze to set before storing cookies.

If you'd like to get creative, try topping these cookies with crushed peppermint or chopped nuts. The options are endless, and any variation is sure to please a crowd!
