What is a Mango-a-Go-Go Smoothie?
The Jamba Juice Mango-A-Go-Go Smoothie is a delicious blend of sweet and tangy mango flavors. The tropical flavors in this drink are reminiscent of my pig pickin' cake, which has pineapples and mandarin oranges.
According to the website ingredient list, it's made with mangos, pineapple sherbet, and a juice blend of pear, white grape, mango, orange, and passion juice. There are also several vitamin and protein boost options available for this drink. In addition, superfoods like chia seeds and flaxseed can give an additional nutritional boost.
What is Jamba Juice?
Jamba Juice is an American smoothie and juice chain that offers a variety of delicious, healthy drinks. With a wide variety of flavors and ingredients, you can create your unique blend or try one of their signature recipes. Signature drinks include the Peach Pleasure Smoothie, the Strawberries Wild smoothie, and the Carrot Karma juice. Jamba Juice also offers a variety of snacks and breakfast items, making it the perfect spot for a nutritious and delicious start to your day.
Key ingredients and why we use them
This smoothie recipe has only four ingredients that you can find easily during your next trip to the grocery store! It's a dessert bursting with tropical summer flavors!
Juice Blend: The Jamba Juice official website says that their juice blend for this smoothie combines the following fruit juices: pear, white grape, mango, orange, and passion fruit. Good luck finding this custom blend! I like to pick 2-3 of my favorites from this list and use them in equal parts for this recipe.
Mango: Mangoes are a juicy and sweet tropical fruit with yellow-orange skin. This recipe calls for frozen mango chunks. You can buy them pre-chopped and frozen or purchase them fresh and chop and freeze them yourself.
Pineapple Sherbert: Pineapple sherbet is a frozen dessert made with pineapple, cream, and sugar. Sherbert is the real secret ingredient to this smoothie—while some recipes call for yogurt, the real version has pineapple sherbert! Speaking of pineapple, this drink would be tasty with my pineapple upside-down cake!
Mango Health Benefits
Mangoes are a great source of vitamins and minerals, including vitamins A, C, and E, as well as iron, calcium, and magnesium. These vitamins and minerals can help boost your immune system, improve your skin and hair, and protect against disease. Plus, mangoes are a good source of dietary fiber, which can help keep you full for longer and aid digestion.
Equipment
You'll want an efficient blender for this recipe that has no problem crushing your ice and frozen mangoes. Be sure to check out my strawberry banana milkshake for another great blender recipe!
Jamba Juice uses a Blendtec commercial blender for its smoothies. It's a quietly powerful blender that quickly (and quietly) creates their silky-textured smoothies. You probably don't need the commercial version (or the $1,200+ price tag).
I would recommend looking at some of the best blenders for smoothies. Brands such as Vitamix and Nutribullet have reasonably priced blenders that will work well for your home kitchen.
Step-by-step instructions
The entire mango-a-go-go smoothie recipe is below and be printed to save for later. But, before you get there, let's walk through it step-by-step so you understand what you're doing beforehand.
Step 1) Crush ice cubes and frozen mangoes in the blender. Scoop sherbert and add to the blender.
Step 2) Add juice and blend until the mixture is smooth. Taste and adjust ingredients as necessary.
HEATHER'S HELPFUL HINT: Top-tier blenders make excellent smoothies. If your blender is on the weaker side, start by adding your frozen fruit and ice. You can also wait to let the fruit partially thaw before blending.
Frequently asked questions
Yes! Your smoothie needs an ingredient like yogurt to give it a creamy consistency. You can make your mango smoothie without yogurt. I recommend substituting pineapple sherbert like this recipe. You could also use milk.
As of 2023, a large mango-a-go-go smoothie has 510 calories. The medium has a more modest calorie count of 390, and the small has only 290 calories.
Many of the Jamba Juice smoothies are high in sugar. For example, the medium mango-a-go-go smoothie has 85 grams of sugar which are well about the 25 grams recommended by the American Health Association.
Make ahead and storage tips
Feel free to make a bigger batch of your smoothie, so you have a leftover option in the fridge for later. Place the smoothie in a jar with an airtight lid. Just remember that the consistency will be more liquid. Another option is to place leftovers into ice cube trays. Simply pop it back into the blender with a bit of extra liquid, and your smoothie will be ready!

Recipe
Jamba Juice Mango-A-Go-Go-Smoothie
Equipment
- blender
Ingredients
- 1 cup frozen mango chunks
- 1 cup mango-passion fruit-pear juice blend
- 1 cup pineapple sherbert
- ½ cup ice cubes
Instructions
- Place frozen mangoes and ice cubes into the blender first, and blend for approximately 20 seconds. Start at the slowest speed and steadily increase as the blender crushes the ice and frozen mangoes.
- Add the juice and sherbert to the blender. Blend for another 20 seconds or until your desired consistency is reached.
- Once blended, taste and adjust any of the ingredients as desired—smoothies are very versatile!
- Pour into a chilled glass to enjoy immediately.
Notes and Tips
- Mango Juice: The blend of juices can be difficult to find all in one. I like to find a mango passionfruit blend and then pair that with orange and pear juice. Goya makes excellent fruit purees with mangos and passionfruit that you can combine.
- Thickness: If you want a thicker smoothie, make sure you use frozen fruit.

Miles above the other recipes out there. Most call for bananas, yogurt etc. This one was simple and EXACTLY like what I order from JJ.

I'm so glad Dave! Yup, these are definitely the exact ingredients that JJ uses in this smoothie :)
