    Types of apples

There are a few different apple varieties, including red and very sweet, like Red Delicious apples.

You can also find a combination of tart and sweet with lighter color skin, such as Fuji, Gala, or Honeycrisp apples.

The last category is tart green apples like Granny Smith apples.

Each has a different color, texture, and taste that works well for different things.

    What Fuji apples taste like

Fuji apples originated in Japan and are now grown in China, Japan, and the United States. They are available all year round.

Color and shape: Their color is striated yellow and red, and they are generally squatter.

Texture: They have firm flesh that is crispy when you take a bite. They do well in cooking and in apple pie since they hold up well under heat.

Sweetness: These sweet apples have a hint of tartness that nicely balances the overall flavor.

    What Gala apples taste like

Gala apples originated from New Zealand and are now grown in both the north and south hemispheres. This means they are available year-round.

Color and shape: Their color is mottled red and yellow, and they are usually taller.

Texture: They have a crisp flesh that makes a great snack or for baking.

Sweetness: Gala apples have a mild, sweet flavor and are some of the most popular apples.

    What are the sweetest apples?

There are many different types of apples that are popular all over the world.

Some of the sweetest apples include Golden Delicious apples, Pink Lady apples, Gala, and Fuji.

All of these varieties can be found in most grocery stores due to demand for their sweet taste.

    How to store whole apples

Whole apples will stay fresh on the counter for up to one week.

If you know you won't be able to eat your apples within a week, keep them in the fridge.

You can also keep them in the crisper drawer of your refrigerator for up to six weeks.

    How to store cut apples

Once you've cut into an apple, the flesh will begin to oxidize and turn brown, much like avocados or bananas.

You can easily prevent this by placing the apples in an airtight container, squeezing lemon juice over the apples, covering them, and keeping them in the fridge.

The acid in the lemon juice will prevent oxidation and keep your apples looking fresh.

*Pro tip: You can still eat brown apples, there's nothing wrong with them, they're just not very pleasing to look at. They also work great in pies or other dishes.

    Cost: Fuji vs Gala apples

Fuji and Gala apples are similar in price in the United States at the moment.

They are both around $1.50 per apple, however, this could change depending on supply and demand in the market.

When are these apples in season?

You can buy these apples at your local grocery store, from orchards if you happen to live by one, or from a farmers market.

They are in season locally in the fall and winter, but you can buy them imported from other countries any time of the year.

The best way to use Fuji apples

Fuji apples have a high sugar content and are perfect for baked goods and other dishes. My apple upside-down cake is a favorite of mine!

You can use them in pie, crisp, cobbler, oatmeal, apple chips, apple salad, fritters, or apple sauce.

The best way to use Gala apples

Gala apples are slightly lower sugar levels and are a great addition to all kinds of dishes as well.

Try them in a tart, apple pie, muffins, apple cider, cake, dumplings, apple butter, or chicken salad sandwiches. My apple praline cake is a great way to use your gala apples.

    Nutritional benefits of apples

A great thing about apples is that not only do they taste amazing, but they are also good for you! Perfect for a healthy snack to boost your immune system.

They are rich in vitamins A, B1, B2, B6, C, E, and K, as well as potassium, manganese, and copper.

These apples are also high in fiber which makes you feel full longer and decreases your appetite.

They are also known to reduce high blood pressure and heart disease.

    Conclusion: Fuji vs Gala Apples

These two different apples are an excellent choice when you're looking for a crisp sweet apple for snacking, baking, or cooking.

They are some of the most popular types of apples and can be found at your local store all year long. Prime apple season in North America is the fall and winter seasons, however.

Fuji and Gala apples provide vitamin C and many other long-term health benefits and are worth adding to your diet for a healthy lifestyle.
